A Coformer Approach for Supramolecular Polymerization at High Concentrations

Insolubility of functional molecules caused by polymorphism sometimes poses limitations for their solution‐based processing. Such a situation can also occur in the preparation processes supramolecular polymers formed solution. An effective strategy to address this issue is prepare amorphous solid states introducing “coformer” molecule capable inhibiting formation an insoluble polymorph through co‐aggregation. Herein, inspired coformer approach, we demonstrated solubility enhancement barbiturate π‐conjugated compound that supramolecularly polymerize six‐membered hydrogen‐bonded rosettes. Our newly synthesized features sterically demanding methyl group unit parent molecule. Although exhibits low nonpolar solvents due crystalline comprising tape‐like array prior polymerization, mixing with enhanced mesoscopic organization tapes.
